Wake Up The Library

Our music room was situated under the school library. This presented a great opportunity to encourage children to sing with greater enthusiasm and gusto. Not to mention the reward of waking up the neighborhood with an occasional trumpet blast.

I've been working for the past months on preparing several epubs too sell on Amazon. One was a group of Halloween songs. I discovered that file size limitations prevent emailing the epub. So the original 13 song collection had to be broken up into smaller books. Organizing by new titles I was lucky to rediscover some work that I really enjoyed writing and recording with the classes. So, now it's 3 volumes of Halloween songs. "Wake Up the Library" was from 2007. It features some girl responses "sotto voce" and a section written in a modern 20th century style with a spoken word layered atop the chorus. Quite wonderful.

Listening to the recordings brought a smile of satisfaction hearing the classes ( and their teacher) so engaged.

The song is part of the "Rockin' Good Halloween" music book available at the iTunes Bookstore. HERE.

Wake Up the Library
Awaken the doomed
They’ve been sleeping now for hours
Wake Up the Library
Clear out the room
We have the will, we have the power

Here’s our chance to save the day
Be bold and act heroic
All we need to do is sing
Sing loud enough they’ll know it

Here’s our chance to save the day
Be bold, and act heroic
All we have to do is sing
Sing loud enough, they’ll know it
They’ll know it
They’ll know it

Wake Up the Library

Wake Up the Library

Wake Up the Library

Wake Up the Library

Here we repose like statues
In a garden

Spellbound by words we hardly understand
